Dear Blue Family,
We are deeply grateful for your unwavering support and enthusiasm for Blue October. Unfortunately, we have become aware of a growing number of social media scammers attempting to deceive members of our Blue October family. We want to ensure your safety and protect you from these fraudulent activities. This page serves as a guide to help you navigate the online world and avoid falling victim to these scams.
Thank you for your continuous support, and together, we can create a safer and more enjoyable online experience for all of us.
We love you,
Official Channels Only:
Please remember that the only verified and official social media pages associated with our band are those listed and linked directly from our official website at www.blueoctober.com Any other profiles or pages claiming to represent us are fraudulent. To stay safe, we strongly advise you to only engage with content and communication from our official channels.
Be Wary of Requests for Payment:
As a band, we will never ask our fans for money through social media. If you encounter a profile or page claiming to be us and requesting payment for access to conversations, merchandise, or any other services, please be aware that it is a scam. We want to provide a transparent and secure experience for our fans, and any official merchandise or services will always be prominently displayed on our website.
Private Conversations:
We will never initiate private conversations with our fans through social media platforms. If you receive messages from someone claiming to be a band member seeking private conversations, please be cautious. This is a common tactic used by scammers. Remember, our official interactions with fans primarily occur through public posts, comments, and occasional meet-and-greet events that will always be announced on our official channels.
Reporting Fake Profiles:
Your vigilance in reporting fake profiles and pages is crucial in protecting other fans from falling victim to scams. If you come across any suspicious accounts impersonating our band or individual members, please report them to the respective social media platforms immediately. By reporting these impostors, you are helping us maintain a safe and authentic online presence.
Merchandise:
The only official Blue October merchandise is available through Bandwear (US based), Probity Merch (UK based) and Merchbar. Bandwear and Probity are our official merchandise partners and sell merchandise the band itself are involved in creating. Merchbar is an official aggregator of our merch through Bandwear. If you purchase through Merchbar, you are purchasing through Bandwear. We do sell a few limited items on Amazon, and Bandwear is the merchant for those items. Any other links you find on the web or that are posted on social media are fakes created by criminals who are not involved with the band and are fraudulently making money off our name and art. Many of these fake links are indeed scams where your personal information and/or credit card info will be stolen and sold. Please only purchase Blue October merchandise through our official channels, also linked from www.blueoctober.com
Trust Your Instincts:
It’s important to trust your instincts when interacting online. If something feels off or suspicious, take a step back and reassess the situation. Scammers often employ manipulative tactics to gain your trust, so always be cautious and skeptical of unsolicited messages or requests, even if they claim to be from our band. Your safety and well-being are of utmost importance to us. By following these guidelines and being aware of the potential risks, you can protect yourself from scammers impersonating our band and its members. Remember, the only official sources of information, updates, and merchandise will always be available on our official website at www.blueoctober.com
