For years, An Open Book has given fans an intimate look into the mind and music of Justin Furstenfeld. But this time, it’s different. This time, it’s not just about sobriety. It’s not just about the past. It’s about what comes next. This spring, Justin Furstenfeld takes the stage once again with An Open Book: I Laugh At Myself—a raw, unfiltered, and deeply personal one-man show that will make you laugh, make you cry, and make you see life in a whole new way.
More Than Just a Concert—A One-Man Play with Songs
At its core, I Laugh At Myself is an acoustic solo show—but it’s so much more than that. This isn’t just a setlist of stripped-down Blue October songs. This is storytelling at its finest. Justin takes the audience on a journey through the songs that mean the most to him—the ones that are too delicate, too vulnerable, too deeply personal to fit into a full-band rock show. But it’s not just the music. This show is about the stories behind the songs—the moments in life that shaped them. It’s comedy. It’s tragedy. It’s life, in all its messy, beautiful, heartbreaking, and hilarious moments.
A Night of Music, Laughter, and Reflection
If you’ve ever seen Justin Furstenfeld perform, you know he doesn’t hold back. I Laugh At Myself is no different. Expect to hear stories that will have you doubled over laughing one moment and wiping away tears the next. Expect moments of brutal honesty, unexpected humor, and raw emotion. Expect to leave feeling something. Most of all, expect a show that stays with you long after you walk out of the theater.
An Intimate Setting, A Personal Connection
One of the most special parts of I Laugh At Myself is the atmosphere. These aren’t massive arenas or rock clubs—these are beautiful, old-time theaters where every seat feels like the front row. The setting itself invites a kind of closeness you don’t get at a typical concert. And in true Justin fashion, he’ll be there after the show, by the front door, ready to shake your hand. Because for him, this isn’t just about performing—it’s about connection.
Don’t Miss It
If you think you know An Open Book, think again. I Laugh At Myself isn’t just another show—it’s a new chapter, a new experience, and a new way of looking at life. Come laugh, come cry, come be a part of something real.
Tour kicks off at the end of March—don’t miss it.
If I could make it out, we absolutely would come. The last time I saw you in this way was in 2013 in Arkansas. It would be lovely to see you performing this new piece of art. I hope it's everything you want it to be and more. ♡°•☆
Will you be releasing a recording of one of these shows?
I was blessed to really discover the band and get to know Justin when he came to New Bern, NC and did a fundraiser for our community post-Hurricane Florence. It was exactly this. An intimate room, acoustic, the stories behind the songs. We will be at the Greensboro show and I can’t wait for my husband to see and hear what I did that night, plus discover some new things.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE... an Open Book Tour in Europe!!!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
